Where can we have the photos taken?

Your portrait session can take place at our fully-equipped studio in Gaven on the Gold Coast, or out on location: a beach, park, or somewhere that has a special meaning for you - the choice is yours. There may be an additional charge for travel for locations outside of the Gold Coast - please contact us to discuss your location ideas.

How long does a portrait session last?

Your portrait session lasts up to 4 hours, which gives us plenty of time to try different themes and to utilise various props to achieve a style that suits you.

What should we wear for the portrait session?

From casual to formal, business executive to “just for fun”, your portrait session is all about taking pictures that make you look your very best. Simple and timeless is best. It is recommended to avoid busy patterns, logos and large designs on your clothing. For young children, bright colors can be lots of fun, while timeless white dresses are lovely for little girls. For babies, the more skin showing the better! Bare feet are the best. For families, we encourage you all to coordinate, but it is up to you if you want to wear matching colors. We recommend bringing a few changes of clothing, as multiple clothing changes are encouraged during a session, but we always recommend starting with your preferred outfit, in case we don’t get to the next round of clothes. You may be formal or casual, it's up to you. Often, families will coordinate by wearing white shirts with denim pants, or by all wearing a similar color, like khaki or navy blue. For black & white portraits, we suggest wearing a color darker than your skin tone in order to accentuate the faces in the portrait. If you have questions about what to wear or are unsure of what you want your portrait to look like, please give us a call so we can work with you to create the look you really want.

What will happen at the portrait session?

The shoot is all about you and your personality and we want that to shine through the photography. This is best done when you are comfortable and enjoying yourselves. So we will shoot a variety of photos; candid, formal and fun. We will at times tell you where we want you and how to be sitting, standing or lying. At other times we will just get you to talk, play and have fun so that we can capture candid natural shots. We will constantly check the images we are taking to make sure everything is as it should be (eyes open not closed, clothes not bunched up, hair looking good) and will at times get you to redo a shot until we are happy with it.

After the portrait session

Photoshotz do all of the digital processing/enhancing of the images themselves to ensure that the process is carried out to the highest quality. We are experts at using imaging software to make people look their best, so you don't need to worry about blemishes, flyaway hair etc..

How do we choose our photos?

All of your images are placed on-line in our secure Client Selection portion of this website, you can view, compare and select your images online. Each image has a section where you can leave instructions for us as well as a general comments area.

Can we ask for an image to be digitally enhanced?.

Yes,if you love an image but there is something about it that bothers you (for example, a scar, blemish, or flyaway hair), then we can more than likely fix it for you in Photoshop. We also love to create unique digital images for clients on request.

How can we make our photos unique and special?

Feel free to be creative! Props such as musical instruments, family pets, toys or stuffed animals, or other objects with significant meaning are welcome. We want your portraits to reflect the real you.

What kinds of products can we buy?

We offer unframed prints, framed prints, canvas prints, albums, and photobooks. Other products are available on request. We use professional labs for the production of our products ensuring the highest possible quality.

Do you offer consultations?

Of course! Please feel free to contact us for a complimentary appointment to meet us, see our work and discuss your wishes for a successful portrait session. We recommend that you schedule a specific date and time with us so that we are able to give you our fullest attention. Also, once you decide to schedule a session, it is helpful to pre-plan the session, which can be done in the studio.

What are the studio hours?

The studio is open by appointment only. We're generally here during normal business hours, however, given the nature of our business with a mix of studio and location assignments, our hours can vary. So, it is best to schedule a time to meet with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Payment plans may be available if required.
