When I was young my father regularly took me with him to various forests and parks where he took photos of nature and in particular a lot of macro’s such as toadstools, fungi and flowers, as I got older he taught me about light , composition and the technical information need to correctly capture images in the outdoors. Not only did he teach me about photography, he also taught me to respect and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Since then I have had a passion for nature and photography. As I grew older I was rarely without a camera close by and although I entered the IT industry I continued taking photographs and also attended several photography courses, always striving to capture not only the images but also the moment!. Over the years I have been priviledged to have had images published in several books and also used in a few advertising and promotional items. After years of outdoor photography I became more fascinated with the prospect of photographing people, I spent 12 months with a professional photographer absorbing as much knowledge as I could about lighting, both natural and studio, and how to get the best reactions from my subjects. I moved from New Zealand to the Gold Coast in Australia after selling my company and leaving the IT industry and now practice photography full time. I see photography as a true art form, not just endless images, but capturing that precious moment at that precise time. It is an honour to be able to share special moments with people and give them photographs that will help them remember, reminise and cherish those special times for years to come! I love looking back at my own personal family photos – it brings back so many wonderful memories and makes me really grateful to have them! That is why I love photography – that is what inspires me! Photography is my passion!! I am a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers and the Australian Photographic Society.
